PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Dons Local Action Group has received thousands of pounds to help bridge the gap between the digital divide. Wimbledon Labour Party recently donated £5000 to help children who are "technologically poor" within the Wimbledon area. The donation has since been used to buy several chrome books for children in need. It comes as Dons Local continue to deliver devices across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston to help children with remote learning. The initiative known as Keep Kids Connected, aims to prevent disruption to children's education and help them keep on top of their learning. "After a series of meetings with the Wimbledon Dons Trust, both Judith Centofanti, Chair & myself were extremely impressed with their comment and dedication to making local children life’s that little much better. Dons Local Action Group "These lockdown’s have presented many unique challenges but providing online education for children at home became immediate especially so for pupils from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds. "Children from financially disadvantaged families either have no or limited access to a shared device as their only means of receiving online education. "We knew our donation would be put to good use for local families to access their online education.” Michael Ormrod, head of Keep Kids Connected at Dons Local Action Group said: KKC would like to thank Wimbledon Labour Party for their incredibly generous £5,000 donation. "As a result, we have purchased several chrome books which KKC will distribute to schools in Wimbledon to help needy children with their online learning."
