Women filmed themselves running through Liverpool's Royal Hospital before shouting "murderers" at staff and subjected a male nurse to homophobic abuse. The incident took place on Tuesday, January 12 with the footage shared widely across Facebook. In the footage, the women can be heard screaming and laughing as a series of videos shows them running through the hospital's corridors. At one point, the women are believed to have entered the A&E department and shouted abuse at staff and patients. In another video, which was also shared on social media, the women can be heard outside laughing and shouting "murderers", "liars" and "f*** the NHS" in a rant where one woman also says "we did it". The footage was shared into several groups online and attracted criticism from concerned members of the public before being taken down. Two images were shared alongside the video and showed two women posing against social distancing signs inside the hospital. The incident occurred as the country recorded 45,533 new cases and 1,243 deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday while cases continue to spiral. Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne said: “We are treating this incident as a hate crime. "These women not only caused distress to patients, staff and visitors to the hospital at this sad and challenging time, they verbally abused one of those nurses working so hard at the frontline. “Our enquiries are ongoing into this abhorrent incident and we will take action on all information provided.
