PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! UEFA have confirmed that the 2022/2023 Champions League group stages will use semi-automated offside technology. The camera-based system was approved for use at the 2022 Qatar World Cup by FIFA earlier this year, but Liverpool players will get a chance to experience the technology prior to the winter tournament. It will first be used for the Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt on August 10, before being deployed across Europe’s club competition. “UEFA is constantly looking for new technological solutions to improve the game and support the work of the referees,” UEFA’s chief refereeing officer, Roberto Rosetti, said in a statement. “This innovative system will allow VAR teams to determine offside situations quickly and more accurately, enhancing the flow of the game and the consistency of the decisions.

All of that data is instantly and continuously processed by Artificial Intelligence to determine if a player is offside, with the aim to provide rapid and accurate offside decisions. UEFA have confirmed that 188 tests have been carried out with the system since 2020, including during Champions League games, the Women’s Champions League, and the whole of Euro 2022. Rosetti added: “The system is ready to be used in official matches and implemented at each Champions League venue” READ NEXT 'Most pathetic thing' - Mikel Arteta slammed for Liverpool tactic in Amazon documentary Liverpool could sign former Manchester United star for free to solve injury issue Sergio Aguero claims Virgil van Dijk 'sent message' to Erling Haaland during Liverpool win vs Man City 'Couldn't care less' - Jurgen Klopp sends strong message after Liverpool transfers New Jude Bellingham rival emerges with club 'keen to beat' Liverpool to transfer
