The France international is in the last year of his contract at PSG and talks so far about extending his stay at the Parc des Princes have yet to reach a breakthrough. The club's sporting director Leonardo said: "On Kylian Mbappe's contract, we've been talking for a long time. “Before, it was mainly to be clear about our position and what we want. What has Mbappe said about Liverpool? The striker certainly got tongues wagging last year when he watched the Reds storm to their first top-flight title in 30 years as Klopp turned his doubters into believers and then achievers. And it certainly struck a chord with Mbappe who was impressed with how Liverpool secured the Premier League crown. “This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League," Mbappe told The Mirror in May last year. “They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy. “Performances, like they have been having, don’t just happen. “To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.” Read More Related Articles Referee hits back at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after laughing with Real Madrid Read More Related Articles 'There was an order' - what Zinedine Zidane told Real Madrid about Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson What has Klopp said on Mbappe? Klopp spoke about Mbappe before Liverpool played PSG in the Champions League three years ago and showered him lots of verbal confetti. "I love him, to be honest! He's a fantastic player. A very good boy and what a player, what a player," he said. "I think all European football has known him since he was 16-17 years old when he played for the Monaco youth team," Klopp continued, exclusively at the microphone of RMC Sport. "And from the age of 17, he has started going through defences as he does now. Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Liverpool. He shows all the time that he's a very well-educated young player and that he knows what he's doing. " Klopp next spoke about Mbappe in 2019 when he appeared to kill off Liverpool's hopes of ever signing the fleet-footed superstar. "Buying this calibre of player is difficult.

. "I don't see any club, that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that. "OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is. But it is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story."

Can LeBron James be key to Mbappe move? There is a feeling that LeBron James can have a key role to play if Liverpool are to pull off the greatest transfer in their Premier League history. The basketball superstar has invested in Fenway Sports Group, who own Liverpool. He is also a minority owner of the Reds having bought a two per cent stake in the club back in 2011. Liverpool's links with James and Mbappe have only heightened since they signed a new kit deal with Nike.

Both James and Mbappe are Nike clients and Liverpool's deal is structured in a way that allows them to have access to Nike's marketing candidates, including James, Mbappe and Serena Williams, as well as gain a cut of the marketing revenue, including shirt sales. Back in 2019, Mbappe gifted James a bottle of wine that was bottled in 1984, the year of James' birth. James shared a picture of it on social media in which he thanked Mbappe for the gift. What are the bookies saying? Liverpool are currently 3/1 favourites to land Kylian Mbappe this summer despite the £120m price tag and the ridiculous wages he would command, which are said to be around £600,000-a-week. It puts them ahead of Real Madrid who are 8/1 with Sky Bet. Bayern Munich and Manchester City are both 16/1. Manchester City are 20/1. Chelsea are 25/1 and Barcelona are 33/1. An Mbappe fundraiser? Two Liverpool fans have hatched a plan to help Liverpool complete a dream move for Mbappe by launching a £250m GoFundMe page. It reads: "As Liverpool do not have the funds to attempt such a bid, we thought we would take it upon ourselves to raise the cash from all fans around the world. Let’s shock the footballing world. “There are roughly 100m Liverpool FC fans on a global basis. If all fans donated we would only need to donate £2.50 each in order to raise enough to talk to Kylian. “Let’s band together to create the first-ever, and largest ever, fan-raised football transfer fee and facilitate the largest transfer of all time. Let’s make history. "If we fail in our aim to raise £250m, all proceeds raised will go to the LFC Foundation." At the time of writing, more than £4,000 had been raised, so there is still some way to go. You can keep up to date with how the fundraising is going right here.
