PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Everton are facing an important summer transfer window once again, with a number of priorities facing Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti. But, finding more goals throughout the side is surely key to any potential moves in the market over the coming weeks and months. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in fantastic scoring form for his side this season, but elsewhere in the squad a regular input of goals has been a little lacking. Throughout central midfield, in particular, the Blues are not managing to hit the back of the net. That was a topic of discussion on our latest Royal Blue podcast, as host Phil Kirkbride was joined by Gavin Buckland and Adam Jones to discuss the issue. Everton might have got away with it this season, but it's not a problem that can only be solved with the addition of a new striker in the transfer window. Listen to the latest episode of the Royal Blue podcast in full HERE Phil: Moise Kean is due to come back to the football club, but I think we all know that if a suitable offer comes in he will leave. There is a hole there for a back-up striker. Now, I'm not saying the football club should go and break the bank for a back-up striker, but it's an important position and it feels like it's something that, if Kean does leave, needs to be got right. We've been fortunate in a sense that we've managed to cope without a back-up striker this season, but it feels like we've kind of got away with it a bit and I don't think the squad could get away with it next season. Gavin: No, we've got away with it because Calvert-Lewin started the season like a house on fire didn't he? Since then we've had a bit of a mix and match. James scored a few, Richarlison had a purple patch for about four or five games. It's an interesting one. Without wanting to go down a Moise Kean rabbit hole as you say, shall we just widen the conversation? We just need more goals from the team, full stop. The answer may not be a reserve striker, the answer might be a right-sided midfielder or forward who can score goals. Someone like a young Theo Walcott, something like that. But I think as well, in terms of enhancing the squad, the emphasis needs to be around can each player score goals. . Our goalscoring options, apart from set pieces, are really limited to what - three or four players? Gylfi, James, Richarlison and DCL. You don't often see those four on the pitch together. So it's about a back-up striker and a transfer policy which brings more goals to the team. Phil: Just a last one then on squad strengthening, do you subscribe to the idea I've seen some mention that we would need more goals from midfield? And I don't mean wingers, I mean central midfield. Do we need to improve that area? Adam: Yeah, I think so. Going back to Abdoulaye Doucoure, I think one of the only concerns that he had throughout some of the season was that - while he was getting forward into good positions - he wasn't actually scoring a lot of goals. He ended up chipping in with a couple, but maybe not the amount Everton needed. I think it's something that's troubled Andre Gomes throughout his time at Everton, the fact that he's only scored once. For someone who's meant to be this box-to-box, creative style of midfielder - you do kind of expect him to get some sort of goals from that position. There's a lack of goals from Allan and Davies as well, but with the positions they've played for most of the campaign I would maybe let them off a little bit. But I would say that Everton do need more goals from that midfield position. Once Doucoure gets the players around him and the service, I think he'll start scoring. I think Gomes is probably the one to look at in that instance. Even if he gets the service, is he going to score even just between five and ten goals a season? Must-read Everton FC news Rodriguez injury update Ancelotti makes Davies admission Brands transfer mission obvious Pickford sensational but three men awful That's what you want if you're chasing Europe and if you're planning to go the distance in multiple competitions, it can't just be about the strikers and the wingers. We've had centre-backs scoring goals! So the fact that midfielders can't does become a concern. Especially if we're going to be playing in the 4-3-3 that's best suited to us, you do need those two more advanced midfielders to get forward that little bit more and contribute with goals and assists. While I have confidence Doucoure can do that, I don't have the confidence Gomes can. So yes, Everton do need to look for goals from midfield this summer.
