PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Throughout a glorious 130-year history, Liverpool Football Club has enjoyed the presence of some of the game's finest stars. From Luis Suarez to Steven Gerrard, all the way back to Billy Liddell, and Kenny Dalglish in between. Departing Kop hero Sadio Mane will no doubt find his name brought into supporters' conversations about the Anfield all-time greats once the dust begins to settle on his Liverpool exit. And in achieving so much at Anfield, Mane has done so while bearing one of the club's most coveted shirt numbers as he followed in the footsteps of greats like Ian St John, John Barnes, Graeme Souness and Terry McDermott wearing the iconic number 10. Simply put, donning such a shirt is not a task for those without a vast amount of fearlessness. And with Mane's departure soon-to-be confirmed, who will be the next member of the Reds' squad to sport such a prestigious number? Luis Diaz From the current selection of those in Klopp's squad, an obvious shout would appear to be Luis Diaz, who has made such a seismic impact since his January switch from Porto. Having worn the number seven during his time at the 30-time Portuguese champions, Diaz is obviously no stranger to a number with an enormous reputation. As an explosive, quick, crowd-pleasing footballer, the 25-year-old shares many qualities with the likes of Mane, Barnes and even Philippe Coutinho who have all worn the number ten at Anfield. However, currently donning the No.23, previously worn by club legend Jamie Carragher, Diaz may see no reason to take on the responsibility of the added burden while he still settles into life on Merseyside. It is still early days for him though, and he has not long been given the 23 shirt. Fabio Carvalho Looking more into the future, 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho could be another option to embrace the shirt following Mane's departure. Having signed from newly-promoted Fulham in May, the teenager caught the eyes of many as his scoring exploits helped fire Marco Silva's side back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

. It remains to be seen what digits he will be given when he arrives at the club next month. "Our number nine, give him the ball and he'll score every time," is how Anfield regularly praises one of its most adored adopted sons. But given that Firmino has comfortably settled with the number nine on his back after he allowed Mohamed Salah to take his number 11 shirt upon signing from Roma, the Brazilian would almost certainly be in no position to want to change his current squad number. For Brazilians of a certain age, Firmino included, the number 10 is symbolically associated with the likes of Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Rivaldo, which means being handed such a number is one of, if not, the biggest compliments a native can receive. But as he too appears to be coming to the end of his time at Anfield, with just one year left on his current deal, whether Firmino would opt for such a high-profile change is another question. It would, however, allow for Nunez to step into the nine shirt at some point if it were to be vacated. Extra options... Alternatively, Liverpool could choose to leave the number vacant until a more suitable shape of player comes to the fore, similar to what happened when Steven Gerrard vacated his number 8 shirt back in 2015 - which was free until the arrival of Naby Keita in 2018. Without a doubt, there will be other members of the squad hoping they can do enough to merit the honour of wearing such a number, with the likes of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott being the kind of attack-minded, flair-based players that seemingly fit the criteria. Diogo Jota might fancy the look of it too. However, one thing that is for sure is whoever succeeds the Senegalese man will have an almighty amount of work to do in order to match his remarkable performances during his four years with the famous Liverpool 10 fastened to his back.
