That is the view of former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old’s situation after negotiations reached a stalemate. Sky Sports report Wijnaldum has not turned down a new deal and he wants to stay at Anfield but believes his wages should be more in line with the club’s top earners. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo report Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is “confident” the Netherlands international will be available to sign on a free this summer when his current deal expires. Wijnaldum has featured in every Premier League game this season for Jurgen Klopp’s side and Agbonlahor has claimed the German will be desperate to keep hold of him.

He told Football Insider: “He’s a massive player for Liverpool.
“I’m sure when Klopp finally speaks to them [the owners] they’ll agree because Klopp’s done such a great job there and he does such a great job for the team.
“But then I do understand the club. I think Wijnaldum is a great player if he’s asking for the same money as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane I don’t think it is the right amount of money to give him.
