PremierLeague-News.Com - Cornwall - It's time to shine for the fish and chip industry
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Two of Cornwall's fish and chip shops have been crowned among the best in the entire country. Takeaways across the UK didn't know it but behind the scenes they have been fighting tooth and nail to make it to Fry Magazine's coveted leaderboard - one of the most prestigious awards in the fast food industry. Now two Cornish chippies, in Penzance and Porthtowan, have made it to the Top 50, after being judged by mystery shoppers among hundreds over a period of several months up and down the country. In 2020 no chippies from the Duchy made the list and only one made the cut in 2019. But Fraser's Fish and Chips in Penzance and Seasmiths Fish + Chips in Porthtowan have turned that around taking two spots on this year's accolades. Fraser's has been "dropping battered fish and perfectly cut tatties" into its sizzling pans for over two decades now and has another venue of the same name in Helston. The household name promises "top notch fish and chips served with a big smile" saying nothing can cheer you up quite like the dynamic duo.

The second to make the list is newcomer Seasmiths Fish + Chips, a small business in Porthtowan, that likes to keep things simple. There are three Smiths' behind the business - Elsie, Jac and Jonathan - as well as one non-Smith, Connor, who have turned producing fish and chips into a craft. Relatively new in the fish and chip shop game, the team only secured the shop in 2019 and after a team effort completely transformed it in time to open just days before the nationwide lockdown in March 2020. They voluntarily closed down for a few months but have been winning the hearts of locals with their delicious fish and chips since then. Have you visited either of these chippies?
