Judge Robert Linford made the announcement during a minor hearing held at the court today (Thursday). Judge Linford confirmed that as of next week, jury trials will be postponed until it is safe to hold them. He went on to warn that the move will create a huge backlog with trials likely to stack up as a result. The move will be a blow for victims seeking justice and defendants wishing to learn their fate.

Judge Linford also said steps are being taken “to dramatically reduce the number of people coming into the building” with more and more defendants and legal representatives appearing over video-link. Since the resumption of jury trials following the first lockdown jurors have been separated by special screens and kept apart to ensure social distancing.
