PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! If you're a fan of a sci-fi franchise or a lover of a medieval drama, then you will no doubt have been keeping track of some of the latest filming going on in the South West. With it's dramatic coastline, rolling countryside - and even derelict quarries and picturesque islands - this part of the UK is the ideal location for some key scenes in some very exciting upcoming small screen productions. With the coronavirus pandemic and its subsequent lockdowns putting a pause on many a production, could it be that more and more hit shows are turning to scenery much closer to home to get that perfect shot? No matter what your thoughts are on the final season of Game of Thrones or if you're more a Trekkie than a Star Wars fan, to be able to spot a local piece of scenery during an episode is surely worth a watch, right? Here's what's been filming nearby recently. You can stay up to date on the top news and events near you with our FREE newsletters – enter your email address at the top of the page. Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon Targaryen stars Matt Smith and Emma D'Arcy spotted at Holywell Beach, Newquay, filming Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon (Image: SWNS) Where: Holywell Bay and St Michael's Mount in Cornwall Game of Thrones has been the talk of the town in Cornwall, since sets were spotted at St Michael's Mount last month. Since then, we've seen shots of cast members Matt Smith and Emma D'Arcy strolling along Holywell Bay Beach, as well as promotional shots of other cast members in costume as their characters. And, more recently, strangely dressed figures - ranging from nun-like personnel, to guards in metal armour - have been seen gathering in one of the filming locations for prequel series House of the Dragon. While filming of the show is taking place primarily at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, it's exciting to see such an iconic name in the world of TV plant some roots here in Cornwall. It will also make a change from the red rooftops of King's Landing (which were filmed in the much hotter climes of Dubrovnik, Croatia). House of the Dragon is set to hit screens in 2022. The Witcher Filming took place at Saunton Sands (Image: Jackie Arch) Where: Saunton Sands, Devon The Witcher, which stars Henry Cavill as a white-haired demon hunter of sorts, became a hit after its first series (which aired on Netflix in December 2019). And now the second series is well on its way, with filming right here in Devon already wrapped up by the end of March. Actors dressed as knights on horseback were filmed galloping along Saunton Sands, while locals were asked not to take photos or reveal the location.

. Not surprising considering how action-packed the first season was. Speculation had been rife on social media, with people asking what the filming was for, and it later emerged that it was in fact for the fantasy drama, which also stars Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra. It's due to air later in the year and will include two additional cast members - Adjoa Andoh and Simon Callow. A little further afield... Star Wars Andor From Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Star Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) (Image: PA Photo/Lucasfilm) Where: Dorset's Winspit Quarry near Worth Matrevers According to the BBC, film crews for a new Disney+ Star Wars series have arrived at a quarry on the Jurassic Coast. The series, which is titled 'Andor' will be a prequel to the 2016 spin-off film 'Rogue One' and will follow the main character Cassian Andor (played by Diego Luna). A set has been spotted at a disused quarry near Worth Matrevers, but filming has also been seen on a beach in Cleveleys, Lancashire. Signs on the path above the site reportedly state that the quarry, which is privately owned, will be closed to the public until May 21. 'Andor' is set to be released in 2022 and will consist of 12 episodes.
