PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Cornwall’s chief fire officer has said today’s fire at Cornwall’s largest creative arts hub has devastated people in the Redruth community. A building containing workshops and offices was destroyed in the fire at Krowji, which was reported to emergency services at 6.30am. More than 50 firefighters using 11 pump tenders tackled what has been described as a ferocious blaze at the former Redruth Grammar School site, which is the headquarters for artists, musicians, theatre companies and organisations such as Cornwall Museums Network and Cornwall Heritage Trust. Cornwall’s chief fire officer Kathryn Billing said: “Any fire is obviously tragic but you look at this one and it sits within the heart of the Redruth community and affects a lot of small businesses. “I’ve spoken to a number of councillors and the mayor today and again there is a feeling of real sadness.” You can stay up to date on the top news and events near you with CornwallLive’s FREE newsletters – enter your email address at the top of the page She told the BBC: “The CEO of Krowji was there and I’m sure they won’t mind me saying, but there were many people who are really devastated and in tears as it’s really sad for them and the community.” She said getting into the site was a challenge for the firefighters, especially as it was dark.

She said a fire investigation team has started working on ascertaining the cause of the blaze. As well as praising all the fire crews involved, Ms Billing thanked the support of police and ambulance colleagues.
