PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Jude Kereama, Cornwall’s Great British Menu fan favourite, has reached the finals, dedicating his win to his wife, Jane, who passed away in 2019. Jude has two restaurants in Cornwall, Kota and Kota Kai in Porthleven, and beat out opponent Nick Beardshaw in the South West competition. Fans were cheering Jude on, and he won viewers’ hearts when he gave a heartfelt tribute to his late wife. After the announcement, a visibly shocked Jude congratulated his opponent and said: “That’s a real, real shock. I am speechless. “This is my fourth time in the competition. I am still in shock. Absolutely thrilled. Just brilliant.” You can stay up-to-date on the top news near you with CornwallLive's FREE newsletters – find out more about our range of daily and weekly bulletins and sign up here or enter your email address at the top of the page. “I want to scream to the world right now. It’s unbelievable. This hasn’t been an easy year or so. There’s one person I want to do it for - and she’d be so proud.” In a tight heat, Jude’s Cornwall-inspired dishes won praise from the judges for the style and flavour of his fantastic meals. His Porthleven Lifeline, a seafood-based broth dish, was particularly popular - being described as “divine” by one of the judges. However, not all of his dishes were loved by the judges, with his spaceship inspired Goonhilly lollies described as “not agreeable.” He also made Cornish pasty-inspired steak dish, hoping to make it into something special. Again, though, judge Matthew port said he had “abandoned” the theme altogether: “What’s the point of all this?” Despite the setbacks, the ever-humble Jude won out against Nick - who received a sportsmanly fistbump from the Porthleven chef. . Well done Jude you're food looked amazing, you deserved this place in the final.” Who is Jude Kereama? New Zealander Jude Kereama is a great chef who has two restaurants in Cornwall. He was visiting the UK when he met his late wife Jane in London. He had no intentions of staying but after three months he met Jane and never left. She was running an Italian restaurant in Fulham at the time and Jude has never forgotten the first time he visited: "She came and greeted me and my friends. "I just watched this beautiful woman running up and down the tables all night, being bossy to all her waiting staff but in such a nice, kind manner. I knew from that moment she was the one for me." The couple visited Jane's mum in north Cornwall and soon fell in love with the county, knowing it was where they wanted to open their own restaurant. They put in a bid for a restaurant in Padstow but were pipped by a higher offer... by a then unknown Paul Ainsworth. They then looked at a place in Widemouth Bay. "But I didn't want to be known as Jude from Bude," joked the chef. The couple established their business in Porthleven. Kota, one of Cornwall's leading fine dining restaurants, was opened 15 years ago with the more family-friendly Kota Kai following a few years later. Paying tribute to Jane, who passed away in 2019, Jude previously said she was the "driving force, brains and charm" of the couple's popular restaurants. Jane died aged 46 after battling cancer. The couple were among the main organisers of Porthleven Food Festival, which regularly attracts up to 30,000 people. It was Jane who pushed a reluctant Jude into taking part in Great British Menu last time. You can read more about Jude here.
