PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! An ambulance crew member bit a man on the lip and shook his head from side to side following a boozy row. Wesley Sparkes, 28, then sent Facebook messages to the victim’s partner gloating about what he’d done. Sparkes, who grew up in Cornwall but now of Bristol, appeared at Truro Crown Court after pleading guilty to affray. Prosecuting the case, Ed Bailey described how in July 2018 the victim went into St Ives with his partner and friends to watch the football World Cup. In the late evening the victim was sat outside The Three Ferrets pub smoking when he saw his girlfriend and sister come outside with Sparkes. His sister and girlfriend were arguing with Sparkes and the victim then saw Sparkes try and grab his girlfriend. Both girls were telling Sparkes to f**k off and the victim then ran over and a scuffle ensued. Suddenly Sparkes lunged forward and bit the victim on his lower lip. He kept his teeth locked on the lip for three or four seconds, shaking his head from side to side. Some shouting then led to a further scuffle before the victim was taken to hospital. The court heard how the self-employed carpenter lost £1,232 in wages and has been left with permanent scarring and nerve damage. On the evening of the incident the victim’s girlfriend received a message from Sparkes that said “the king is dead, long live the kind” (sic) and another one that said that the victim’s blood was on his shirt and that he expected him to take it to Hayle dry cleaners.

. Representing Sparkes, Ramsay Quaife told Judge Robert Linford that Sparkes was an emergency ambulance crew member but as a result of his conviction became an ambulance trainer as it didn’t need a DBS (criminal record) check. Mr Quaife said: “This incident was very much out of character and Mr Sparkes has been out of trouble since. What he did is going to live with him in a number of ways and he shows genuine remorse.” Sentencing, Judge Linford said: “On this day in 2018 you very nearly lost all that you’ve worked so hard to build up. In an act of the most extreme violence you approached this man and bit him. I’ve seen a photo of the injury and it is nauseating to look at and the consequences are still with him now. “Afterwards, for some bizarre reason, you gloated about what happened. “You are a hard-working man and this incident aside are a thoroughly decent person. You have very nearly thrown it all away because of a moment of insanity. “Go back to being the hard working person you’ve become and I don’t ever want to see you again.” Taking into account Sparkes’ mitigation he was given a 12-month community order consisting of 150 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay the victim £2,732 in compensation.
