PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A mum was spurred to lose six stone when she drew concerned looks as she tried to squeeze onto a rollercoaster. Sammy Ball was with her son at a theme park and was asked if she was okay by a ride attendant when she started to look uncomfortable in the car. She thought, “what have I done to myself?” and then embarked on an amazing weight loss journey. The 34-year-old has lost around six stone since the incident, and a total of eight stone over the years with Slimming World. Sammy, from Bentilee in Staffordshire, told Stoke-on-TrentLive: "I remember my son wanted to go on a ride at a theme park, I can't remember where it was now, but he wouldn't go on without me. "At this point I was huge, and I was trying to squeeze myself into the seat. The ride operator was looking at me as if to say, 'are you OK? Do you need to get off?' "I remember thinking, 'what have I done to myself?' I used to be so sporty when I was at school and I went on to play netball for Stoke-on-Trent, ran so fast and did so much swimming. "I couldn't continue living like I was, and when I heard about the Slimming World lifestyle, I thought that it sounded like one that I could keep up with." Sammy Ball, aged 34 from Bentilee (Image: STOKE SENTINEL) Sammy stuck to 'hearty' foods throughout her journey to keep her full, but admits that she loves a salad too. "I love hearty meals - roast dinners are my favourite - and with Slimming World I could still have stuff like that. "I'm lucky because I really enjoy a salad, especially when it's a meal like burger in a bowl. "Chinese food is another of my favourites, which I was worried I'd have to miss out on, but there are so many Chinese fakeaways out there that you can try. "You can make healthier versions of your favourite foods really easily. I'm learning so much more in the kitchen and really enjoying cooking and trying out new recipes. You can always give or take with ingredients and get creative if you don't have everything that the recipe says. "I cook things for my partner and son and they really enjoy it and say they'd have no idea that it was a Slimming World friendly version." Sammy Ball, aged 34 from Bentilee (Image: STOKE SENTINEL) The majority of Sammy's weight loss journey took place virtually - through online zoom sessions hosted by her Slimming World consultant. "I can't tell you how much of a lifesaver the online sessions are. I can sit in my kitchen, get Zoom up, and see all of the smiling faces that I miss from group. My consultant Rachel is dead bubbly and so positive - I couldn't have got through lockdown without her. "It was a big worry at the start of the pandemic because we didn't know what we'd do without group. I think we all had a choice of whether to keep at it, or relax a bit, and I'm so glad I kept up with it. "Slimming World had found a way to continue that support for us, and I had lost almost two stone at that point. I was determined to not let three months of hard work go down the drain." As a teenager, Sammy loved exercise and took up different sports.

. But now, she's back to exercising seven days a week - and even looking to support others with their fitness too. "I am a massive advocate for body magic. I'm a really sporty person anyway and really got into the gym, so when they closed I knew I had to find something else online. Sammy Ball, aged 34 from Bentilee (Image: STOKE SENTINEL) "I work in finance so I'm working from home and stuck within the same four walls all day every day. When I'm feeling stressed, I know that I can change into my workout clothes on my lunch and just have that hour of getting all my energy out, and I can go back to work in the afternoon feeling refreshed. "I also love going for nice long walks at the weekend. We are really lucky and live right by Berry Hill fields, so my son will take his bike and I'll walk alongside him and we'll easily do about 5-6k. "I went to Zumba classes before lockdown and loved them, so I decided to set up one on a Saturday morning, virtually, for the Slimming World girls. I've actually also completed a course in personal training so that's something I'd love to pursue more in the future. "Everything has changed for me now. Before, I couldn't walk up the stairs without getting out of breath, and whenever I tried to exercise I'd get this pain in my calf, but everything is a breeze now. I feel so much healthier and more in control. "I was previously buying an extra large in Gymshark clothing, and now I fit in a medium, and generally I was a size 24, but now I'm a 12. "My biggest tip for new members is that every day is another chance. If you have a bad day, just get back on it tomorrow. "Everyone in your group is so supportive, it really is like a family. Slimming World has given me my life back and I feel like it has given me a second chance."
