The new tier system is set to replace the lockdown restrictions we have faced for the past four weeks. As part of the new system, different areas will be placed into one of three tiers to combat coronavirus: Medium, High and Very High. Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, Warrington and Halton have all been placed in Tier 2 of the new system, meaning they will face strict rules, albeit not as strict as those in Tier 3. The tiers are due be reviewed by the government on December 16, so any exemptions could be subject to change. However, if you are a single household or part of a support bubble then you will be able to socialise. The 'rule of six' states that you must not socialise in a group of more than six people outside, but weddings and funerals are able to go ahead as long as no more than 15 people attend wedding ceremonies and receptions. Thirty people can attend funeral ceremonies and 15 can attend linked commemorative events such as wakes or stone settings. Public attendance at spectator sport and business events can resume inside and outside, limited to whichever is lower: 50 per cent capacity, or either 2,000 people outdoors or 1,000 people indoors. Hospitality businesses must also stop taking orders after 10pm and close their doors between 11pm and 5am. However, hospitality venues in airports, ports, transport services and motorway areas are exempt. People will still be able to buy alcohol after 10pm, with hospitality businesses selling food and drink for consumption off the premises being able to do so, as long as this is through delivery service, click-and-collect or drive through. However, cinemas, theatres and concert halls can stay open beyond 11pm in order to conclude performances that start before 10pm. Organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes is only permitted if is possible to avoid mixing with people they do not live with. However, exemptions apply for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s which can take place with larger groups mixing. Travel and overnight stays in tier three areas should be avoided, but exemptions include for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment or because of caring responsibilities.
