. All of the traders are from Congleton and were hoping to find somewhere in their hometown to set up, but Macclesfield was the nearest site they could get. Keira McLaughlin is from letting agents Baker Proudlove. She explained the concept of the pop-up shop and the benefits to small traders. “The pop-up shop is pretty much a flexible space where small businesses and independents can pop up," Keira said. “Everything’s included in the price, including the rent, the utilities, business charges and the social media. It is pretty much a fully fitted shop - and they can go in and just trade. “Someone will take on the space and they can have it for anywhere from one to six weeks because we've identified a great way for businesses to test the high street and sit alongside some bigger retailer names as a stepping stone. “They can see how their products will perform in the location. Hopefully they will enjoy it and meet their customers and build up a bit of brand recognition.” As well as having this unit in Macclesfield, Baker Proudlove has a pop-up shop unit in Chester.
