A photo showing the stark aftermath of a crash which resulted in a 38-year-old woman being airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries has been released by firefighters. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service shared an image of the scene of a three-car collision in Weaverham which happened on the A49 Warrington Road. The crash, which happened at around 4.40pm on Wednesday, August 3, also resulted in a 53-year-old woman being taken to hospital with serious injuries not thought to be life threatening. Firefighters from Middlewich were amongst the emergency services called out to the incident and have since shared a photo of the aftermath of the crash. They took to social media to post the image, saying that they had assisted in releasing the 38-year-old Toyota Aygo driver who was "medically and physically" trapped inside her vehicle. The roof of the car was cut off so she could be removed and flown to hospital for serious and life-threatening injuries. The 53-year-old woman also taken to hospital was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta. A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "The driver of the Toyota Aygo, a 38-year-old woman, was taken by air ambulance to hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Ford Fiesta, a 53-year-old woman, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. "Their condition is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward."
