Police are appealing for information after a terrifying incident in which betting shop staff in Winsford were threatened by a man believed to be carrying a gun. The man entered the BetFred shop at Winsford Cross Shopping Centre at around 12.20pm on Thursday, August 4. He threatened staff at the shop on Jubilee Way with what was thought to be a gun before making off on a bicycle with a quantity of cash, leaving staff shaken. Cheshire Police said he fled via the main entrance, making off on a bike. The incident saw the police's firearms unit and helicopter called out. The suspect fled the scene and cycled into a service area at the back of the town's Argos store, travelling towards Dingle Lane. He was wearing a black face mask, glasses, an orange long sleeved high-vis jacket, with a blue hoody underneath, dark trousers, and a black and green baseball cap. The man was also carrying a black gym bag.

Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said: “While there were no reports of any injuries the store workers have understandably been left shaken by their ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can trace the person responsible. “The incident occurred in a busy shopping precinct and as part of our enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and believes they may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious or unusual in the area around the time of the robbery. “The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.
