PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A Cheshire family business that has been trading for 25 years claims it is being forced out of Winsford by a national chain. It is claimed that Home Bargains bought up the lease and refused to allow Carpets Unlimited to renew the contract, which had ended after 25 years. Home Bargains is taking over the current premises occupied by Carpets Unlimited and the unit next door. Carpets Unlimited will have to leave town, through a business decision which they say is no fault of their own. Alan Ward was a furniture store on Nat Lane next door to Carpets Unlimited, two years ago it went out of business. The unit was sold to TJ Morris, which is the Liverpool based company that trades as Home Bargains. They also bought the ownership and lease of the Carpets Unlimited unit, from property firm Savills UK. A line on the Home Bargains website reads: “We have an aggressive expansion strategy and have over 595 stores trading in the UK. Stores have been acquired for 2022 and 2023.” Carpets Unlimited told CheshireLive: “The whole building is now owned by the landlord which is TJ Morris which is Home Bargains. At that point we thought Home Bargains would be moving in next door obviously that would be good for business.

. “So our 25 year lease in Winsford comes to an end shortly, we would have been happy to renew the lease but the landlord decided not to renew the lease with us. “We were unable to renew the lease. So sadly after 25 years in Winsford we've got to close this branch there’s four full time members of staff of which three have taken voluntary redundancy one’s moving into the main Chester branch.” Carpets Unlimited has two other branches in Cheshire, but will be leaving the town. They said: “There’s no other unit of this size available in Winsford. We are a stockist. So a high street shop doesn't fit our format. So although there are the high street premises available, they don't suit what we need to do really, which is, we are one of the biggest stockists of carpets in Cheshire.” The company will have to leave the premises by the end of July. Cheshire Live contacted Home Bargains’ press agency who said: “No one from Home Bargains was available for comment."
