PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Prince Charles has spent his whole life preparing for the day he’ll be King. But following the death of his father Prince Philip, and the departure of senior royals from the working royal family, some duties have come sooner than expected. He has had to step up to assist the Queen, who is now 95, and carve a new path for the monarchy. As the Mirror reports, Charles' plans for a slimmed down monarchy when he takes the throne are well known, and he's reportedly looking to have a team of seven senior royals - not including Prince Harry, Meghan Markle or Prince Andrew. Royal author Angela Levin told talkRADIO: "Prince Charles has wanted for a very long time to cut the monarchy down to save costs and to make people be worth the money that they got from the taxpayer. "I imagine that might be when Harry and Meghan are ditched from being members of the Royal family. "I think the outer edge, which the Queen has wanted to keep together for a very long time for sentimental reasons, which at her age she didn't really particularly want to change which I think is understandable. "But he wants to change and I think he will do that." The first steps for a small senior royal team are already in place, and the Queen revealed her new team of eight senior royals at Christmas last year. Her 'New Firm', featuring the Queen, Charles, Camilla, Princess Anne, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, came together for a reunion photo at Windsor Castle after the Covid lockdown. The arrangement fits with Prince Charles’s long term vision of a slimmed down monarchy as well as the Queen’s mantra of “one must be seen to be believed”. Courtiers have been told to plan events for the eight senior members, unofficially dubbed the 'New Firm' A royal source said: "The family are united in exploring the possibilities in working with each other to highlight the causes dear to their hearts, helping each other and the country at the same time. "The Queen has often said they 'need to be seen to be believed' - this is coming from the very top." Charles has already stepped in to control Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie's spending, which reportedly caused a huge row with Prince Andrew. A report published after Eugenie's gap year revealed she spent more than £100,000 of taxpayers' money as she explored India, America, Thailand and South Africa. She paid for hotels and travel herself, but the massive security bill, including overtime money, was funded by the taxpayer. Speaking on Channel 5 documentary Beatrice and Eugenie: Pampered Princesses?, royal expert Richard Kay said: "She was sort of flitting from country to country as most middle-class young people do who take gap years.

. "That meant that we the taxpayers were paying for policemen to accompany her to the fleshpots of the world." Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank helped by Princess Beatrice and Prince Andrew, Duke of York leave Windsor Castle in an Aston Martin DB10 after their wedding for an evening reception at Royal Lodge on October 12, 2018 in Windsor (Image: Getty Images) Charles reportedly stepped in to control the spending, with author Angela Levin telling the programme he suggested Eugenie and Beatrice didn't need costly security as it's unlikely they will ever become working royals. Ms Levin added: "Prince Charles decided that as they were not likely to be very senior royals, that this was too much for the public to pay, so he stopped that. Prince Andrew was so angry that he wrote a note to the Queen. He said he wanted them to be considered as proper royals. He did not want the protection officers to leave them." When Charles takes the throne many members of the royal family will be handed different titles to reflect their new positions. At the moment, he is the Prince of Wales but this title isn't his alone and is the official title for the heir to the throne. He's the 21st man to have it. Diana became the Princess of Wales after she married Charles in 1981. Technically, Camilla should now have the title but she turned it down out of respect for Diana given the complications in their relationships. However it will be a different situation when Kate moves up to the position of wife of the heir to the throne, but it's not yet known if she will take the title. Kate may follow suit and not take the title, or she could use it as a tribute to the mother-in-law she never met. Following Prince Philip's death last month, Prince Charles was handed his title the Duke of Edinburgh however he won't use it. When Charles becomes King, the title will go to the Queen and Philip's youngest son, Prince Edward.
