PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A community group has launched a 'life changing' programme to give young people from marginalised communities in Bristol more opportunities. Grassroot Communities, a youth work organisation based in Bristol, has started the 'Grassroot Activators Programme' to give people in the city aged between 16 and 25 the skills they need to achieve their goals in life. The programme is due to start in September, and its founder Ben Carpenter says this is a "life changing" chance for people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get their dream jobs. He explained to Bristol Live how the year-long course will help people. "They could come from Southmead and they've got both parents, who give them all the love they need, but they struggle to get food on the table. And they're finding it difficult to create the pathway to opportunity that they're passionate about. And then they'll be supported by youth work and business mentors to create a pathway to a realistic opportunity, whether that be in employment or education, that's based on their passion." The programme will take on 15 young people and teach them a variety of skills, involving two days of learning per week during term time over the course of a year, from 11am until 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

. Ben hopes that the new programme will teach young people practical skills like problem solving, communication and teamwork. And he thinks that it could help to "close the gap to what is possible for normal, working class young people." "There's nothing like this as a package in the UK that I've seen," he added. "I spent a year researching GAP because most of it had already been developed through individual projects and consultation with local people. This opportunity, it doesn't grow on trees - it doesn't grow anywhere." To find out more you can email info@grassrootcommunities.org or visit their Facebook page.
