PremierLeague-News.Com - Figures have been released for the first time
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! The number of people being vaccinated every day at Ashton Gate's vaccination 'super-centre' is more than 1,000 - but it is still not operating at absolutely full capacity. For the first time, health chiefs have revealed how many vaccinations are being given at the South Bristol stadium - previously figures from the Department of Health and regional health boards have just been released on a city wide or local authority area basis. Lockdown sceptics and covid down-players questioned how many vaccinations were taking place at the Ashton Gate centre, with one Twitter user who claimed his partner worked at the vaccination centre and it was 'regularly running at 20 per cent capacity'. But now health chiefs have revealed that 'up to 1,200 vaccines a day' were being regularly delivered there. When the centre opened in early January, the man in charge of the vaccination programme for the whole of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, Tim Whittlestone, said Ashton Gate had the capacity to run 12 hours a day, seven days a week, and administer 10,000 jabs a week. A figure of 1,200 vaccines a day means a maximum at present of 8,400 vaccines a week - so 84 per cent capacity. A spokesperson for the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire care commissioning group, said: "Ashton Gate is regularly delivering up to 1,200 vaccines a day - recognising that there have been fluctuations in numbers vaccinated per day as we near the end of each priority group.

. The Bristol area and the wider South West has consistently been ahead of the other regions in terms of numbers of vaccines administered, and some supplies have been prioritised to other regions to allow them to catch up.
Since the centre at Ashton Gate opened, on a day that included a visit from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, dozens of more local vaccination centres have opened in health centres, GP surgeries, schools and pharmacies right across Bristol. People being invited for a covid vaccine are usually given the choice of booking a slot at Ashton Gate or more locally. The capacity at Ashton Gate means people can often get their jab a few days sooner than if they book at their local GPs surgery, but given the vast majority of those vaccinated so far have been over-70s, being more local is more convenient. Health chiefs have said they expect the take-up at Ashton Gate to increase into the spring, as younger age groups are invited for their jabs. At the weekend, Government statistics revealed that the South West region looked likely to be the first region in the country to offer the first covid jab to all over 50s, as the programme to roll out the vaccine moves onto Group 5 and 6, the over 50s and those clinically vulnerable.
