Our city's Covid rate per 100,000 population now stands at 118.5 - this ranks us in the bottom half of country. Bristol is currently 149th out of a possible 380 areas. The Shetland Islands has completely suppressed the virus, its rate is now zero. Some of the lowest rates in the UK have been confirmed in the South West, including West Devon, which has the third-lowest with 7.2. The Cotswolds has the tenth lowest of 32.2, followed by Cheltenham with 33.5 Corby and Middlesbrough's have the highest rates, with 329.6 and 286.

. The Department of Health's latest data also shows a further four coronavirus deaths were reported today (February 23) across the Bristol region. Three people who tested positive for Covid died in Bristol, while one more death was confirmed in South Gloucestershire. Across Bristol and it's neighbouring areas another 106 infections were reported over the past 24 hours. Bristol saw the biggest jump, with 42 - a significant drop from yesterday's 96. South Gloucestershire confirmed the second-highest rise of 31. But the tragic figure represents a dramatic fall since last month's peak, with the number of fatalities falling sharply. Last Tuesday there were 799 confirmed deaths, while a fortnight ago the figure was 1,052.
