His current £250,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season and no talks have yet taken place about a new deal. The Premier League leaders are reluctant to commit themselves until Aguero has proved that he has fully recovered from coronavirus and a lingering knee problem. Aguero, 32, has not started a game in four months and hasn’t scored a single Premier League goal since January 2020. But that hasn’t deterred some of Europe’s biggest clubs in pursuing one of the modern game’s most prolific strikers who has scored 256 goals in 379 games for City.

It is understood that Aguero’s preferred option would be to extend his stay at City, who paid £35million to buy him from Atletico back in 2011.
But he is currently weighing up all his alternatives and is desperate to get his career back on track for the title run-in.
