The pub giant is changing things up and offering punters alternatives as it struggles with supply. On all relevant breakfast meals , customers get an extra hash brown instead. On 5oz and 10oz gammon meals, customers get extra tomato and mushroom. On the all-day brunch and all-day vegetarian brunch, customers get an extra sausage. And on the large mixed grill, punters are treated to extra onion rings. We are experiencing issues in receiving all the supplies we require to satisfy demand in every pub.

. At the pubs concerned, customers are being offered alternative items, for example, hash brown, sausage or onion rings where eggs are unavailable. "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience." It comes as Tesco has joined other supermarkets in limiting the number of boxes of eggs customers can buy as the impacts of rising costs and bird flu continue to take their toll. The shopping chain said it had introduced a temporary buying limit of three boxes per customer as a precautionary measure. A Defra spokesperson said: "We understand the difficulties that rising costs combined with the bird flu outbreak are causing for farmers and we are working with industry to monitor the egg market. "The UK's food supply chain is resilient - there are 38 million laying hens across the country and we are not expecting any significant impact to the overall supply."
