PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! To properly gauge the progress that Aston Villa have made, you need only look at the collective value of their playing squad and how that number has risen since Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens walked through the door. NSWE have made millions and millions available for player signings since taking over in the summer of 2018, before a season which led to promtion back to the Premier League under Dean Smith. That is where the bulk of the spend has come from. Bar academy stars Jack Grealish and Jacob Ramsey, Keinan Davis, goalkeeper Jed Steer and fringe figures Ahmed Elmohamady, Neil Taylor and Conor Hourihane, the rest of the current group have arrived in the transfer windows since the takeover. Smith and Villa’s recruitment team - including sporting director Suso previously and now successor Johan Lange - have built from the back with goalkeepers and a new look back-line, while the midfield options are now vast and the forwards complement Grealish in the final third. That doesn’t include loanee Ross Barkley, the out of contract stars in Elmohamady, Taylor and Tom Heaton, and the loaned out stars Conor Hourihane, Frederic Guilbert and Lovre Kalinic. As you might expect, Grealish is the most valuable player in the Villa squad. According to FO’s formula that they use to arrive at a figure for each player, he is worth up to £70m. Fellow England international Ollie Watkins is rated at being worth £50m, which is already a steep rise on what Villa paid for him to take him from Brentford last summer.

Tyrone Mings is next on the list at £30m, which is again an increase on what they spent to sign him from Bournemouth after a successful loan in 2019, while there are a host of players who are valued at least £20m. They include summer signings Matty Cash, Emi Martinez and Bertrand Traore, as well as winter addition Morgan Sanson and left-back Matt Targett - most, if not all, of their respective values have risen based on what Villa actually spent to acquire them. Wide forwards Trezeguet and Anwar El Ghazi are rated at £15m and £10m respectively, while Wesley Moraes’ injury appears to have set his price back. He, Jacob Ramsey and Kortney Hause are valued at £7m. The lesser spotted Bjorn Engels, midfielder Marvelous Nakamba and Keinan Davis are all estimated to be worth £4m, using the FO metrics, while Jed Steer is around £1m. At the time of publishing, BirminghamLive had requested a value for defender Ezri Konsa.
