PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Former Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet’s reunion with the controversial ex-Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has already taken a bizarre twist. Clotet spent most of last season in charge at St Andrew’s and seemed to have steered the team away from its customary relegation battle until things fell apart. Blues decided to announce Clotet would step down at the end of the season only for results to nosedive and the former Leeds and Swansea coach to leave early. That brought to an end an 18 month relationship with Blues, having initially gone in as Garry Monk’s assistant and started a seven month absence from the game. On Saturday, the pair swapped places in a bizarre turn of events that ended up with Cellino coaching the team from the sidelines. Brescia took the lead in the first half through Florian Aye before a second-half brace from Cremonese’s Daniel Ciofani condemned them to a fifth defeat in eight games. Clotet’s frustration got the better of him and he was sent off for arguing with the officials, spending the rest of the match in the stands. At that point, Cellino took it upon himself to replace Clotet in the dugout, coaching the team for the remainder of the afternoon instead of the assistant coach Gastaldello Daniele. Italian journalist Francesco Porzio tweeted: “Former Leeds president (now at Brescia) Massimo Cellino currently on the bench coaching ‘his’ team. Only in Italian second division.” Cellino sacked predecessor Davide Dionigi less than two months after he was appointed. Cellino was a controversial figure during his three year stint at Elland Road, getting through no fewer than six managers and cutting costs before Andrea Radrizzani bought the Whites in 2017. He was linked with a takeover of Blues last year when it was claimed he was looking at a number of Championship clubs with a view to returning to England.
