PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! He's lighting up the World Cup in Qatar - but Jude Bellingham hasn't forgotten his Dudley footballing roots. Bellingham picked the perfect time to score his first England goal when he broke the deadlock in the 6-2 Group B victory over Iran on Monday. The 19-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a meteoric career trajectory, rising to Champions League football with Borussia Dortmund after making his professional debut with Birmingham City at 16. It was in Stourbridge, however, that Bellingham first honed his football skills and the down-to-earth superstar is doing the Black Country proud. His stunning impact on the international scene has got the region reminiscing about the late, great Duncan Edwards. The ‘Black County Boys – White England Shirt Portrait’ Edward was regarded as one of the greatest footballers in the world before his tragic death at the age of 21 following the Munich air disaster in February 1958. And Bellingham has supported a Dudley cause in Edwards' name by donating a signed Borussia Dortmund shirt, which will be auctioned for charity. Black Country boys Bellingham and Edwards made their full international debuts for England at Wembley in their teens 65 years apart. Edwards was 18 when he scored for England in a 7-2 win over Scotland in 1955 and Bellingham was a year younger at 17 when he was handed his Three Lions bow as a substitute in a 3-0 victory over Republic of Ireland in November 2020.

. Their football careers then followed similar routes as they were each selected to play for England at various levels from schoolboy to full international. Edwards signed for Manchester United in 1952 and was regarded as one of the greatest footballers in the world before his death following the Munich air disaster in February 1958. Jim Cadman, chairman of Duncan Edwards United, said: “We would like to thank Jude for supporting the Duncan Edwards Peace Field at the Dell Stadium in Dudley by donating a signed Borussia Dortmund shirt for our fundraising. The Duncan Edwards Peace Field site sign at the Dell Stadium “This ongoing project involves football pitches all over the world being twinned with the site of the iconic 1914 Christmas Truce football match in Belgium in World War One.” The shirt signed by Bellingham will be auctioned along with the original artwork of the ‘Black County Boys – White England Shirt Portrait’ by Black Country-based graphic artist Paul Burns at the Duncan Edwards 65th Anniversary Memorial Dinner at the Copthorne Hotel, Dudley, on Tuesday, February 21 2023.
