PremierLeague-News.Com - Huge plans are in the pipeline for Dudley
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! A huge regeneration scheme that could overhaul Dudley Town Centre has moved a step closer but it's received a mixed reaction from the public. The redevelopment of the Portersfield site is proposed to cost £82 million but promises to see 347 residential units, 200 student digs, up to 10,000 square feet of retail and leisure space as well as a 38,000 square feet Ice Rink Centre. Dudley Council has teamed up with developers Avenbury (Dudley), with the council agreeing to splash out £420,000 to develop and submit a new planning application. The redevelopment comes as part of a wider £1 billion major revamp of the town centre which includes a £24.5 million new leisure centre, a £24 million transport interchange, as well as improvements to Dudley Zoo and Castle and the extension of the Midland Metro. A lot of residents in the borough have welcomed the news about the redevelopment, however, some believe it will be a waste of money. The public headed to the comments section on Facebook to voice their opinions about the plans. Shane Barratt said: "Ice rink sounds perfect, the temporary one that came during Xmas was always popular so a permanent one would be good, as for housing they need to make sure they end up in the hands of actual buy to own, and not buy to let greedy landlords." Amy Lane commented: "Dan Lane we might have moved by then.... but wow!" Katie Lenton penned: "Be great to get it back to what it once was when I was younger, lovely town with Marks and Beatties, Primark would be brilliant up Dudley." However, not everyone was excited about it.

.. Matt Smith claims: "Once it's built it will be a s*** hole within two years." Becki Joanne said: "They can try to improve it but you can't change the crime and the people, also there are loads of people who don't like Dudley and just drive straight through it so it's pointless!"

Wayne Alan Carr Alexander argued: "That’s all well and good but what about the “actual” town centre? It’ll still look run down and have no investment." "And £24 million on a leisure centre! What will that entail and have? Because first impressions of it it just looks like another small leisure centre."
Sandra Mcgee said: "But our theatre can't be saved. Ice rink not for everyone, a theatre is." Susan Mcknight agreed: "What about the Hippodrome? Why is money not being invested in that?" What do you think of the plans? Tell us in the comments below
