Crowds gathered as the vehicle went up in flames in the busy Coventry Road in Small Heath on Saturday night, June 19. Dramatic video footage shared with BirminghamLive showed the parked car well alight as emergency services arrived around 10pm. Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the vehicle as people watched on from the street, close to the junction with Jenkins Street. Gasps can be heard as the footage then captures the moment the car explodes, sending sparks flying. One onlooker claimed two cars were affected by the blaze and said two ambulances were in attendance.
