PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Dean Smith admits Jack Grealish still isn't ready for a Premier League start after his long-awaited return against Everton last night. The captain played the final 20 minutes as Villa drew 0-0 with Everton, with Smith detailing afterwards that Villa's doctors instructed him to throw Grealish on with 15 minutes to go. The 25-year-old looked menacing on his return with his teammate, Emi Martinez, stealing the headlines after a string of important saves as the Argentinian chalked up his 15th clean sheet of the season. Here's every word Smith said afterwards as he discussed the performances of the likes of John McGinn, Douglas Luiz and Keinan Davis: How did you see that against Everton? Dean Smith, manager of Aston Villa speaks to fourth official Craig Pawson "We controlled the ball well in the first-half without creating clear-cut chances. They defended well and defended deep. "Second half, it was a little bit scrappy. It was like a basketball game in the first 10 minutes. We didn't take control and they had the better of the chances. "The changes helped us. JJ coming on and Jack. We looked like we could create something in the final third and that's what was missing." The defence was in good form, Dean... "Yeah. We haven't had a clean sheet for six or seven games. That's really pleasing. There's a real never-say-die attitude amongst the players and we'll continue to show that in the last three games." "He's very important. He's one we looked to sign and knew he'd do well. With Tom Heaton being injured at the start of the season he's come in and has made that No.1 jersey his own. "He'll be the first to congratulate the team for making his saves more comfortable than they should be." Was giving Jack 20 minutes always the plan? "Well, the medical staff said to bring him on at 75 minutes so I twisted their arm to let him have an extra four or five minutes out of him! "I just felt we'd gone flat and we needed a spark. JJ (Jacob Ramsey) lifted it a bit as well with some quality and energy. We needed someone with Jack's skill as well." . It's small steps at the moment. He looks fresh. He just loves playing football. We'll try and get 90 minutes into him against either Tottenham or Chelsea." How's Matty Cash? Is that a re-occurrence of his hamstring injury he sustained in February?
Aston Villa's Matty Cash
"Whether it's a re-occurrence of the hamstring, I don't know but, if it is, then that will rule him out of the season now. Someone spoke to him and he said he doesn't feel too bad so we'll see." What about Tyrone Mings, he seemed in some pain... "Him and Emi collided knees but he's a tough old cookie and should be OK." How did you rate John McGinn's display?
"He's been searching for a little bit of consistency this season. Tonight was one of his best performances. He took the ball on the half-turn and rolled their central midfielders time and time again. "Nobody within our dressing room... We all know how good a player John McGinn is and we're thankful he's in our squad." Douglas Luiz was back to his best after he came in for some stick after Man United. How important is he to you moving forward? "He's really important. Yes, he made a mistake but everyone does in football games. That's the nature of it. Tonight, he was good. He kept the ball ticking but I think he can be a little bit more progressive at times on the ball. "The last five minutes he played two forward balls on the spin and put (Everton) under pressure and we want to see that a lot more. How about Keinan Davis's performance, was it tough for him? "He done OK. He competed. He kept the ball in and around him. He's a different type of player to Ollie Watkins. As good as Keinan can be, that was his first 90 minutes in a long time."
