PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking transfer news as Carney Chukwuemeka completes a six-year deal to Chelsea as Aston Villa pocket £20million from the sale of the England under-19 star
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Carney Chukwuemeka has completed his £20million transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea. The 18-year-old has signed a bumper six-year contract at Stamford Bridge after being given assurances of first-team football under Thomas Tuchel. Villa chief executive Christian Purslow led the negotiations throughout the deal and it was 58-year-old who slapped a £22million price on the England under-19 midfielder, with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly happy to pay an initial £15million with a further £5million in performance-based add-ons. It’s understood Chukwuemeka’s former club Northampton Town will pocket around £750,000 of the transfer fee. As we know, Villa were at the risk of losing Chukwuemeka for a mere £400,000 compensation fee in January knowing the teenager could have agreed a deal in principle with a new club in just five months’ time. The FA Youth Cup winner’s contract at Villa was set to expire in June 2023. Speaking at the time, head coach Steven Gerrard said: “Carney is yet to sign a contract offer that has been in place for some time now. I’ve decided the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.” After completing his medical in London on Wednesday, Chukwuemeka has now put pen to paper on a lucrative six-year deal at Chelsea. In a statement, Villa said: “Aston Villa can confirm Carney Chukwuemeka has completed his transfer to Chelsea. Everyone at the Club would like to wish Carney all the very best for the future.” Chukwuemeka said: “It’s been quite hectic but I couldn’t get Chelsea out of my head the last few days so I’m just happy and relieved that it’s all done. I’m so excited and just can’t wait to get on the pitch, meet all the players and try to win games and trophies with Chelsea.
