PremierLeague-News.Com - Ross Barkley has struggled for form since returning from a hamstring injury but the on-loan Chelsea midfielder impressed on his second successive Aston Villa start against Everton
PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Ross Barkley has been tipped to end his Aston Villa loan spell with a bang after delivering vastly-improved performance in the 2-1 win against Everton. Barkley made his second successive start for Villa against his former side on Saturday and impressed as Anwar El Ghazi’s late goal secured all three points after Ollie Watkins’ opener was cancelled out by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Most striking was that Barkley completed a full 90 minutes for the first time since January, the midfielder having struggled to recapture the brilliant form he showed at the start of the season in recent months. Barkley will return to Chelsea with a permanent move not being considered by Villa but Gabby Agbonlahor is backing the 27-year-old to get back to his best in the final five games of the Premier League season. That was the first time in the last couple of months I’ve seen him play like that. He was outstanding. Getting the ball and driving with it, getting shots off, keeping the ball. I thought he had a very good game. “With Ross Barkley, maybe he needed games to get himself fit. He looks like a player who needs to be at tip-top fitness to play well. “Since his injury, he hasn’t looked fit enough.

. That’s what Dean Smith has wanted to see and it just hasn’t happened. “If he can do it for the last five games I’m sure Aston Villa can get some good results.”

Barkley made an electric start to life at Villa Park following his season-long loan move from Stamford Bridge in September. But a hamstring injury that kept him out for seven matches between November and January halted his impressive form, with Smith giving game time to Jacob Ramsey and winter window recruit Morgan Sanson. Smith confirmed a fortnight ago there had been no discussions with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel about keeping Barkley, saying: “Barkley came in on loan at the start of the season. Obviously, Frank [Lampard] was the manager at the time we did a deal to bring him in on loan. That's where it was. He's got another two years left on his contract at Chelsea and that's not been discussed at all.” He does, however, look to be firmly back in the head coach’s plans in the final weeks of the season and will hope to make a third consecutive start against Manchester United on Sunday.
