PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Trains from Berkshire to major cities in the UK will be reduced due to strike action later this week. Upcoming industrial action by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union (RMT) will hit most of the nation's rail network. CrossCountry has offered an update on what services will run from the county as staff walk out over pay, conditions and job cuts. The strike will involve staff across 13 train operators throughout the country. Services from Reading to Manchester and Southampton are among those affected. The strike takes place on three days this week, resulting in a special timetable from Monday, June 20 to Sunday, June 26 due to disruption on surrounding days. On these days, the CrossCountry service from Manchester to Reading Station will run once an hour, with some of these trains continuing beyond Berkshire to Southampton. The strike means that train services across the network will only operate between 7.30am and 6.

Tom Joyner, Managing Director at CrossCountry said: “We are of course disappointed by this unnecessary action and are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause. We are working with industry partners to offer the best service possible despite the actions of the RMT. "We remain open to speaking with union colleagues to reach a compromise. However, if the strike goes ahead it will cause significant disruption. “We strongly advise passengers to avoid travelling by rail wherever possible during this time and make alternative arrangements. If travel by train is essential, we urge customers to allow significant extra time and check their journey details in advance.” A CrossCountry spokesperson said the company's service disruption site will be regularly updated.
