PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! Time is ticking in the January transfer window as manager Veljko Paunovic aims to strengthen his Reading squad before the end of the month. The Serbian has until 11pm on Monday, February 1 to finalise deals. The only transfer to materialise so far is reserve goalkeeper Sam Walker who has joined AFC Wimbledon on loan for the remainder of the season. Find out how you can get the latest news from BerkshireLive delivered straight to your inbox But several deals are close to being finalised and there is still time for other deals to happen. Below we outline the latest on the transfer front both in and out of the club. Arrivals As things stand, young Portuguese forward Pedro Mendes is the player most likely to join the club in the next couple of weeks. The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Spanish second tier side Almeria but only featured in 10 games and failed to find the net. Mendes' signing would be a short-term fix for Reading as he would primarily be a back-up striking option, thus providing Paunovic with more strength in depth for the second half of the season. In terms of other additions, there is likely to be only room for one more player because as we outlined in our piece here, Royals are only allowed to bring in two players this month due to financial restrictions. Departures Back-up shotstopper Sam Walker has already gone out and as he is out of contract at Reading this summer, he has played his final game for the club as he will be released at the end of the season. Defender Omar Richards is also off - but at the end of the campaign. BerkshireLive understands Reading are still yet to offer him a new deal and even though Paunovic has expressed a desire to keep his star defender beyond the summer, the switch to Germany is all but completed. Who could still come in As already alluded to, Reading won't be making significant additions to the squad this month. Any recruits, such as Mendes, will be squad players and help pad out Paunovic's selections going into the back end of the season and help maintain the push for promotion. Pedro Mendes of Sporting CP (Image: Pedro Fiúza/NurPhoto via Getty Images) A number of players have been linked with a move to Madejski Stadium but any such deal is likely to be either a loan, free or one which costs the club very little. In the same way as last year's transfer window, when Felipe Araruna and Ayub Masika joined right at the end of the month, it's likely Reading's deals will take place at a similar stage this time around. The club has turned down a number of players who have been offered to them both on loan or as a free agent.

The 19-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at Reading and the club is keen to keep him for as long as possible. Following last week's FA Cup exit at Luton Town, Royals are now prepared to send some of their younger players out on loan. Only one will be allowed to head out, however, to ensure cover is available for the Brazilian. Oli Pendlebury , Dejan Tetek and Jeriel Dorsett were among those to take part in the Luton game last week and could all leave on a temporary basis to get some more senior minutes. Striker Sam Smith , who spent the first half of the season on loan at Tranmere Rovers, will also go out on loan if the right offer comes in as he is no longer part of Reading's plans.
