PremierLeague-News.Com - Breaking Sport Transfer News ! New Reading FC goalkeeper Joe Lumley has declared he wants to play all 46 Championship games this coming season. The 27-year-old joined Royals on a season-long loan deal over the weekend from Middlesbrough. The former QPR youth product played 34 times in the league for Boro before being dropped by Chris Wilder towards the end of the season. Lumley, the first summer signing for Paul Ince, will battle Luke Southwood for the no.1 position following the departure of Orjan Nyland at the end of last season. But Lumley has already made it clear what his intentions are with Royals in 2022/23 and revealed how a chat with Reading midfielder Josh Laurent helped force the move through. "Everything about this club I’ve heard great things about," he said in an interview with the club website. "I know a few of the lads, I played with Josh Laurent in my youth team and still speak to him quite a lot. He said great things, so it’s a big opportunity for me to go on and I want to play 46 games in the Championship this year and do well for the team. "If any player doesn't want to play 46 games in a year then something is wrong.

. I believe in my ability, believe in myself and through speaking to people and knowing people here, we can achieve something this season." Lumley is due to link up with his new teammates when the squad returns to Bearwood for pre-season training on Wednesday. Reading marks the 10th club of his career and seventh different loan club. The shotstopper was part of the Middlesbrough side that lost 1-0 to Royals at the SCL Stadum last season and then beat them 2-1 in the reverse fixture at the Riverside Stadium in January. He added: "I’m delighted to join. Growing up watching and playing against Reading, it’s a massive club to come and join, hopefully we can achieve some good stuff this season. Straight away I jumped at the chance [to sign]. It’s a chance to play another season in a top league and see what we can achieve. "It’s always a tough game, going to the Madejski [SCL Stadium], and I can't wait to get back. Playing for Middlesbrough last year against Reading, they were both really tough games. In the away game for Middlesbrough, I should’ve scored in the last minute, but I’m glad I didn’t now I’ve joined Reading!"
