In recent months, holidaymakers have been hit by long queues and mountains of piling luggage. Many people have seen their booked flights axed and Heathrow Airport has announced it is capping passenger numbers at 100,000 daily until September 11, in a bid to mitigate issues. This is because airlines are not able to check in your bags if you arrive more than three hours before departure. They also say to remember things like make-up, hand sanitiser, lotion, lip balm, hair gel and toothpaste all count as liquids. If you plan to travel with gels, aerosols, creams, pastes or anything you think might fall into one of those categories, make sure they are packed in a 100ml container maximum. All items must fit within a one litre-sized transparent bag. If you run out of transparent bags at home don't worry as the airport has some available at all security check-points.
